April 4, 2009 Shihan John Petrone will be conducting his annual seminar in Topeka, KS. The hosts for this seminar are Sifu's Andrew and Cheryl Evans of Hokkien Martial Arts. Vee-Arnis-Jujitsu's Knife Tactics, Fighting from the Ground, and our "OH NO" drills (what to do when you make a mistake) will be on full display. Group discounts are available.

March 5, 2009 - An Entry Team Combatives Course has been added to the DICTATE Schedule for 2009. The course will be held at Ft. Carson, CO, on March 5, 2009. This is short notice, but any team who is interested should contact the Chief Instructor of the DICTATE Program at 719-392-1380 or by email at defenseinstitute@aol.com. No individuals are permitted. Advanced notice will be required to ensure your equipment can pass through security with as little delay as possible. Military and Law Enforcement Special Operations Teams ONLY. No civilian groups are allowed. ID will be confirmed for any group who wishes to participate.

Wednesday, March 25, through Saturday, March 28, 2009 - Due to popular demand a DICTATE Basic Level Instructor Course will be conducted from Wednesday, March 25, through Saturday, March 28, 2009. This course will be conducted at our Austin Bluffs location.

At the end of last year it was posted we would not be conducting another of these courses until after the Advanced Level Instructor Course was conducted. A flood of interest in both programs has made it necessary to put another Basic Level Instructor Course on the schedule before we conduct the Advanced Course in late April or early May.

Dates for the Advanced Level Instructor Course are still being determined and will be posted soon. You must be Basic Level Certified in order to attend the Advanced Level Course.

If you, or your unit/team, would like to attend this course, please take the time to fill out the Instructor Application Form. We will contact you within 48 hours to discuss your application. Any questions can be directed to the Chief Instructor by emailing them to defenseinstitute@aol.com or calling our Fountain/Ft. Carson location at 719-392-1380.

March 31-April 3 - DICTATE Instructor Level Courses in Hand to Hand 1-3 will be offered from March 31-April 3 in the Kansas City area. The host agency is the Jackson County Sheriff's Office. They are only making a few slots available to members of outside agencies. Only members of the law enforcement community will be accepted. Current Agency ID will be required.

You must reserve your slot soon to participate in this program. Point of contact is Lt. Mike King. He can be reached by phone at 816-881-4219, or by email, mking@jacksongov.org.

Questions regarding course content may be directed to John L. Petrone, Chief Instructor, DICTATE, by phone at 719-392-1380 or by email, defenseinstitute@aol.com. However, he can not guarantee placement in the class. Only Lt. King can set up a place for you in the course.

September 7, 2008 The final non-contracted DICTATE Basic Level Course for this year will be offered in October. On October 20-23, 2008 this course will be conducted at the Fountain/Ft. Carson Training Facility. If you are interested in attending, please take the time to fill out the Instructor Application, as soon as possible. As soon it is received, a confirmation email will be sent to you. Pricing and the equipment list will be provided. If you need help locating a nearby hotel, let us know. Spaces are already going fast and instructors from all over the globe have already registered.

The first class offered next year will be the Advanced Level Instructor Course and you must be a certified Basic Level Instructor in order to attend. This will be your last chance before the Advanced course is conducted. Please take advantage of this opportunity.

June 25-28, 2008The DICTATE Basic Level Instructor Course, presented by Paragon Training Group, inc., was a great success. There was an 80/20 pass/fail ratio. That means more instructors are out there. You need to find one in your area if you want quality self-defense training. If you need help, feel free to contact us to get information on someone in your area.

Paragon is currently setting up more classes with law enforcement and military groups. As soon as we have dates, we'll post them. One more Basic Level Course will be offered; then an Advanced Level course will be given sometime this Fall. You must be certified in the Basic Course to attend Advanced Level Training.

Some of the Course Evaluation Reports and Letters of Recommendation will be posted soon, so you can see what the attendees thought of the training.

June 2, 2008The new school is open. We officially have a north location. We are located in the Colorado Market Center at the corner of Barnes and Austin Bluffs. Please take some time and come on up and check it out. You won't be disappointed.

June, 2008 Shihan John Petrone, Chief Instructor and Western States Director of the Vee-Arnis-Jujitsu System, is now writing a weekly blog on his MySpace page.
